Dr Amanda Leather - Forensic Psychologist
Amanda is a UK-registered psychologist (HCPC) with over 17 years of experience across the NHS and private practice, supporting people through many different chapters of life. She has worked with children and adolescents, adults, early intervention in psychosis services, and prison mental health, which has given her a grounded, wide-angle understanding of what helps people heal, adapt, and rebuild. Again Lumeah brings you clinical excellence.
Amanda says: I have always been fascinated by people and the stories they carry. She is drawn to the way life can shape us in ways we do not choose, and yet we still keep reaching for something better, even when everything feels heavy. For Amanda, it is a privilege to walk alongside someone in that space and help them find their way forward again.
In her work, Amanda frequently supports people who feel overwhelmed, anxious, low, stuck in self-doubt, or quietly battling the sense that they are “not good enough”. Trauma has also been a significant focus throughout her career, and she has seen how powerful therapy can be when someone begins to reclaim their life at a time they thought it might not be possible. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. She often describes herself as a “co-pilot”, helping clients make sense of what is happening, gently untangle what is keeping them trapped, and build new ways to feel safer, stronger, and more connected to themselves.
Amanda draws on a range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring each experience to the person in front of her. She brings both clinical depth and genuine humanity to her work, blending structure with compassion, and challenge with steadiness.
Amanda also understands, personally, how easy it is to keep going until the body forces you to stop. Through learning to recognise her own signs of overwhelm and burnout, she has practised the same skills she teaches, alongside nurturing her body and mind with intentional self-care. This lived understanding is part of what makes her presence feel so real: calm, kind, and deeply respectful of every person’s pace and process.
